. . . a debut recording from Pamela Goddard
These traditional songs, gathered from many sources, water my roots.
Many of these songs, collected in the mountains of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, are well known.
Other songs, collected in the mountains of New England and New York State, are less well known.
All of the songs reach back to an older Anglo/Celtic source and have developed richly wherever they have flowed.
I am proud to be part of this stream of music.
[A writer and dance caller, traditionally influenced a capella singer Pamela Goddard lives in Ithaca, NY. For the past 30 years she's learned traditional songs from both sides of the Atlantic and is now focusing on the songs of New York State and New England].

My heart is a bell
invited to sing
by your smile
These songs come from everywhere. They are words uttered by the Buddha more than 2,000 years ago, and the words of an Adirondack housewife only 30 years ago; poetry by a Vietnamese Zen monk, a Nantucket sailor, a Scottish shepherd, and a Western cowboy; spirit songs sung by Quakers and Shakers, Buddhists and Baptists, Methodists and Missionaries; and secular songs of loss and recovery. I send each of them out with a prayer for peace.
